Also whilst up north, I enjoyed another exclusive viewing at Dumfries thanks to a friend and got some new shots of XT280. Unfortunately she’s starting to look quite tatty and unloved with the once grey coloured paint now turning light blue shocked

I visited this old girl again yesterday for XX894’s much needed replacement boundary layer control blow duct pipe. Her scars from our many visits are quite obvious in the evening sunlight. The good news though, if it happens, is that there are now discussions to have this aircraft and the Phantom and Jaguar that stand next to her put on concrete rather than left to sink further in to the grass. All though she is currently out of training use, it was also very welcome news to hear that there are absolutely no plans to scrap her anytime soon!

She looks a bit unloved but with a good quality prep and paint, it could live out her days as a gate guard or static dispaly?

Fellow forumite Anthony (huntermk58) has recently visited Buccaneers XX888 and XV359.

Firstly, starting to look quite unloved and somewhat overgrown since I last saw her, XX888…

Secondly, although still looking tatty from her long exposure to the salt air at both Predannack and Culdrose XV359 is still promised a roof over her sometime soon!

Thanks for the Photos Anthony!

XX888 does indeed look a bit sad. Nothing a good blast with a pressure washer wouldn't fix though Seeing these various cockpit sections makes me wonder if anyone at Brunty has thought about a cockpit for open tours as it could be a great fundraiser!

Here are some photographs of one Buccaneer that has not been seen for a while XV337.
Many thanks to Richard Parr of Retro Aviation for allowing me to take them.

PS There is an article in the February 2009 copy of Fly Past on Retro Aviation.

How complete is this one internally Anthony?

Also, after close study of your pictures it looks like an ex BDR airframe?

Its not far up the road from where I live but I still haven’t got round to seeing it yet!

That would explain some of the strange instrumentation.

Well done Plazz, I have been after a photo of 337 for sometime. I think that she was scrapped with my XT284, and then ended up on the same scrap heap at Stock in Essex.

Unfortunatley Glenn, I am not the one responsible for these superb photos. Anthony (huntermk58) took them and I’m kind of envious that he got there first!

Just received some updated photos from Jim Simpson, of XV863 over in Weston, on the 20th August 2008, she looks as though she has had a repaint since arriving.

And this shot confirms the damage sustained during road/sea transport, creasing of the fuselage around the Aircon Exhaust and dents to the Engine Intake.
