The nose section is held shut at three points (circled in red). Do not be surprised if the locking pins (Iíve marked one of them with a black arrow) are seized solid. Iíve spent hours and hours trying to open these before and the operating lever tends to break before the locking pins release so please be warned!

The whole unit weighs approximately 40 to 45kg.

It all depends on how much time and effort you want to spend
and also what damage your prepared to inflict on the airframe?
Patience, tonnes of WD40 etc. might do the job and you'll be able to
Re-assemble it all again, whereas a Stihl saw will definitely do the job
but make it difficult to go back together and I understand from Tim that
It is all going back in one piece!?
Hopefully you will be lucky and it won't put up to much of a fight!!

Plazz,

Thanks but on the contrary Tims plans do not include the nose sections or anything below cockpit floor level, hence today i attempted to move the lever without luck. Tugging at it with a 5 ton HiAB only broke the mechanism (seized as you predicted), so using a WMD the pins were cut.

Maybe someone could use the external panels along the lower sides ?

XM692

I could make use of the panels and body work for XT284, as this is the section that I need to re skin.

To the people who've requested panels & parts, i'll get back to you asap, but Plazz was first to enquire so i feel duty bound to await a reply from my PM to him.

No, just being reduced to floor level and nose less in accordance with the owners wishes (as per XN979 at Doncaster).

XM692

Thanks for your reply. Please let me know if any parts become spare . I have checked my shed and I have most of the panels, but XT284 had a large section of skin removed during it's BDR time. This is on the port side around the 2 smaller panels next to the nose fold hinge, and any bits from this area will be a great help.

Cheers Glenn

Yes, the owner asked one of his employee's to do the deed. Cut line just needs tidying up...

Hi XM692

Thanks for the update. Did any bits get saved? I am still trying to get some spares for XT284's body work. The small sockets to hold the panels in place would be very useful.

Cheers
Glenn
