I will be at AV8 on the 4th, but 9.00, are you having a lie in?

Ah, alas not, I have to collect my Dad's trailer to bring some racking and a trolley bench to the airfield, so I am having to wait around for him to get out of bed!!

I will phone you on Sunday morning if I am going to be any later and give you instructions of what to do to access the aircraft.

Sorry I couldn't make today folks, events overtook as they have a habit of doing (well actually I double booked myself but that just sounds incompetent so I won't put it that way...d'oh!)

Hope y'all didn't get too weather beaten!

Had quite a good day in between the showers today, got a lot done in terms of appearance.

After the Blooming of the G3, we resorted to a standard Turtle Wax car polish, with outstanding results.

The wings are now down thanks to Keith, Dan & Hightech (for the use of the Manitou).

Myself and Keith spent quite a lot of time on attention to detail parts that had been over painted at RAF Leeming in 2003.

On our next visit, we aim to complete both the Polishing and the Attention to detail areas, and get around to finally putting the 50th Markings on, as long as the weather play ball.

The teams next planned visit is on Sunday 18th May, if you want to pop down and view the ongoing work for yourself, then please give me a shout.

Lee did have one, but seems to have misplaced it.

What you are looking for is these two items:
1B/4467 Universal Lubricating Gun - Tecalamit JC.10
27Q14103 Flexible Charging Pipe - ST2034
It looks just like a grease gun with a pressure gauge on it.

I believe that Lee used one borrowed from Phil Mann at Yorkshire Air Museum last time around.

Nigel,

I will be down on Sunday 18th.

Question is the disk you have the "Manual"?

If so could collect Wednesday on my way back up the M4.

889 received a generous helping of willing hands today, in attendance were Myself, Keith, Stuart, Dan, Anthony, Timbo, Chris and Anthony's son.

As per the last work day, the attention was firmly in appearance value for the upcoming Airday on June 15th.

I have attached a few images for your interest below, more will be added 889's page on the main website in due course.

Anthony removes masking tape residue.

Outer wing leading edge paint stripped back to natural metal finish.

Makeshift Pitot Tube in place.

An overview of the front of the aircraft, notice anything different?

The next work days are scheduled for Saturday 30th May & Sunday 1st June, if you would like to come down and view the aircraft or lend a hand, then please contact me via Private Message on this forum or via the contacts page on the main website.
