The aircraft will receive a much needed undercarriage recharge this coming Saturday, those wishing to help out with this task, please be on site at AV8 by 09:00

This last weekend, the team descended on Kemble again to start work on 889 after a few weeks away concentrating on Kemble Air Show.
Keith started to strip the paint off the starboard nacelle whilst Anthony was up top giving the canopy a much needed polish before opening up some of the access panels on the wing to help with the corrosion control. Myself and Nige set to the corrosion in the main wheel bays, getting it back to bare metal.
Whilst Timbo and Keith went off on a coffee raid, I continued with the nacelle, getting most of the paint off the front lip. All it needs is a final clean and polish and we can get started on the other side.

I thought that its about time I updated the progress (or lack of) on XX889.

Due to our huge commitments to the various shows at Kemble, work on 889 had been put onto the backburner somewhat, but during this time, It gave me time to re-evaluate the whole project, and I have come up with these points.

1. If a volunteer electrician cannot be found, then the best we can hope for is a static exhibit.

2. If the above is to be the case, then airframe anti-deterioration is the top priority, which has been the case for the last two years anyway.

3. The repaint is on hold for the time being, as we have more important work on other aircraft in the pipeline.

4. A new care and maintenance schedule is being drawn up and will be in force in January.

5. All monies received from displaying statically at Kemble Events, will now also help other projects that are being undertaken by the BBS/Historic Aero Services.

Hope this helps you all understand the current situation with 889.

I can't believe what I am reading on the Blackburn Buccaneer Society Forum. What can be more important than working on a Buccaneer?. Whatever next!!!!!!!! grin

It is with great regret to inform you all, that XX889 is now up for sale.

We are looking for £15,000 for the aircraft and can make arrangements for road transportation, at extra cost.

Serious enquiries only to nut7y1971@gmail.com
