Ha ha! Yeah your right there Paul! I re-instated my modelling desk the other week and have retrieved glues and paints from the attic. Now if only I can find some spare time!

Moving XX889 Part 1

XX889 has been loaded up ready for the move to her new home at Bruntingthorpe. Unbelievably I took well over 200 shots of the event! Here’s a small selection....

That's it! Time to rename the airport Buccaneerthorpe!
Seriously, well done chaps in getting another Bucc for dispaly. I imagine she will be a runner eventually? Until then what about if time and effort allow , to have a fundraiser buccaneer pull with 889? Would be easier with her not bei ng a runner and engineless and would could generate some much welcome funding for the fleet of Buccs??

Whilst I am aware of the circumstances surrounding her departure from Kemble, it is still sad to see her leave what has been her home whilst we've been doing Events down there (I'm on the Events Team at Kemble and know Nigel's issues...).
Good luck with her at Bruntingthorpe, where at least she'll be in the company of other survivors wink

Moving XX889 Part 2

899 was safely delivered to Bruntingthorpe today with the exception of her starboard flap which met with a road works sign on route.

Understand your comment regarding the issues and I appreciate from the onlookers watching the loading just how much she’ll be missed at Kemble.

There were a few comments today on the reasonable condition of the aircraft. This would not have been the case had she not have been given the initial TLC by the guys at Kemble.

I must admit I've got mixed feeling about the move. After spending many hours looking after and showing people around 889 since she moved to Kemble in 2006, I'm really sad to see her leave the Cotswolds. On the other hand I know she's gone to a good home at Brunti.
Plazz have you decided what your plans for the future are yet? I know she requires a lot of work esp. in the electrical side (the main stumbling block that we had at KMB). I take it you saw that the bearings on the mainwheels are decidedly shot (the reason that she stayed Northside at Kemble rather than returning to our Southside pan).

Nice shots of her on the move today and yesterday. I was trying to get down to take some photos of my own but circumstances put my plans in the bin this weekend.

I know its sad that XX889 has left Kemble as the team have put in alot of work into the jet down there and its a shame how things have ended up,But at least its going to a home where it will continue to be looked after and I'll be able to see it abit more often than I used to,normally showing people round her with a hangover.

Thanks for the offer Chris, it may well come in handy!

Currently there are no plans whatsoever to restore XX889 to ground running condition. The work required on her is vast and spares are in short supply when you consider that there are three other Buccaneers at Bruntingthorpe sucking up resources.

A full survey will be carried out on the airframe and systems sometime after the May open day. At best I would think that she will only make a first rate static. At the end of the day the final decision will be made by the aircrafts owner and not us engineers!

XX889’s current resting place alongside XX894...

Just wondering if she couldnt be a good candidate for fundraising in that you charge a fee for sitting in the cockpit and have pics taken etc?
