Today proved to be highly productive and for once the weather played ball, it stayed dry all day long.

The chaps got on with the mountain of outstanding work required before the Airday.

Firstly the canopy came off so that a repair could be made to the rear of it, which Chris did a sterling job with and once prepared and painted, you would not know there was a repair under it.

Anthony and Tim started to work through some of the severed wires and came to the conculsion that we need to find the D12 manual to continue in this area.
User Image

Keith and Chris have managed to refit the Homing pods onto the wings without resorting to bringing the wings down.
User Image

Dan, Stuart and Myself have completed a wash down of the airframe, which has done wonders for her appearance, not least after we all set about her with G3 Compound Polish.
User Image

Next visit will see the remaining areas to be treated to the compound, finished off and prepartions made for the squadron decals to be applied.

Nigel,
I have a full set of wiring diagrams for the MK2 Bucc, however there are over 2000 pages if you’ve got a copier!

I have attached one page of the 28volt supply busbars just to give you some idea!

I did say that the chances are between either myself or Francis, we had a copy of the required manual. shocked grin

I am glad you enjoyed yourself and you got to witness some of the tomfoolery that goes with being part of the crazy engineering team, I even gave you a blast of your fav Testament track, can't be bad.

I cannot believe your Dad missed out on the Beer, he will be gutted, that's his favourite part of the day grin

You weren't kidding! Manual sourced before I even sat me arse down at the PC, that's impressive!

And as for the beer, I of course had to abandon my principles and join in the consumption to uphold the Radford family name, what with Radford senior not being present - normailly don't touch the stuff..ahem.. rolleyes

Giz a shout if you need a hand copying that manual, I am a Copier engineer so I see the things all day every day wink

Nige,

If you like I could pick up the manual and get it copied.

Good day yesterday, at least Tim confirmed I wasn't going mad! huh

Cheers

I will get onto Francis later and arrange collection of the manual, I will give you a ring to confirm.

Glad that the weather finally played ball and we were able to hit the work hard.

I am looking at going down again on Sunday 4th May if anyone is interested in coming along.

Far from going mad, your findings were bang on the money - which is a shame as is just confirmed that the wiring is FUBAR embarassed

We'll nail it one way or another, those diagrams should be of huge help, the biggest hurdle will be interpreting them!

If memory serves me correctly, all the schematics are Idented so this should make things a lot easier to understand, one thing we will need sort out is a test set so that each individual loom can be tested after repair.

Good stuff - a handy supply of Nyvin cable would be cool too, and do we have all/any of the Plessey connectors which have been brutally lopped off the cable ends?

Fortunately the Plessey connectors are still available off the shelf from several companies, they are all able to cross refer the original Plessey part numbers as well, they are also able to supply the pins for the connectors.
Another twist of fortune is that we have the proper parts manual for this area which includes both a section for the connectors and the pins and it shows you how to fit them!! cool

Now that's just a thing of beauty!!

Hopefully some decent progress can be made on the leccy front then - if we can liberate some Nyvin from somewheres (what's gutting is that I have/had reels of the stuff somewhere - probably in that bloody container on the farm) then we're onto a good thing grin

Confirmation of next work day, Sunday 4th May, meet at AV8 for 09:00 as per usual.

Black Hunter is due out to Abingdon in the morning, so we should get a buzz nice and early.
