Since 894’s brakes are now working properly, it was decided today to put the contents of the nose back in place (again!) concealing the brake accumulators once more!

Thanks to donor aircraft XV864, XX894 now has a replacement blow duct pipe installed!

An anti-det run was carried out later in the day with both engines being exercised up to 80%. The boundary layer control system functioned fine thanks to the newly installed pipe…

Next job is to sort out the port flying control accumulator!

Nice shots Francis, looks like its getting increasingly tight for space there at the moment.

XX894 had a long overdue Anti-Det run yesterday. Both engines performed flawlessly and the electrics and hydraulics were also good except for just a couple of things.
There is a minor snag to sort electrically (bloody micro-switches again) and the flying control accumulator was replaced in the morning but the seal seems to be passing by so this will have to be looked at during the next visit.

A couple of photos from the day...

It’s nice to know that we turned a few heads! It was just a shame for the gathering crowd that they were not allowed to come closer. Maybe next time eh?!

Here’s some video. It’s not desperately exciting but hey, it’s a Buccaneer and its making noise etc...

Just before Xmas, XX894 went for a twilight run down the length of Bruntingthorpe’s main taxiway! Both of the engines were running and all electrics and hydraulics functioned fine. With all her lights on and blinking she looked awesome and with a bit of imagination could have been taxing back in after a sortie. Sadly not one of us had a camera or camcorder for this particular run, but we plan to do the whole thing again in the next few weeks!
It truly was a great feeling putting the old girl to bed that night knowing that she had just performed flawlessly! Lets just hope there will be some shows next year in order to really show her off?!

Just to step back in time from this momentous occasion though, earlier today I copied some more footage from VHS to Digital. This particular footage shows XX894’s move from Farnborough to Bruntingthorpe back in 2003. The eagle eyed among you will no doubt recognise a few of the faces involved including the Buccaneer Societies very own Nigel Goodall!
Hopefully this will stir a few memories for you Nige?

On with the show…

I have also copied the Sea Vixen footage as well so I’ll burn a disc for you Matt!
