Images to follow

So far progress has concentrated on getting the AC power system operative as the last functional check revealed an inverter catching light the 112 and 108 have been stripped and run up on the bench all looks well

the type 103 are a bit more problematic with bad pitting corrosion and seizure of the main bearings
on strip they also have worn motor brushes so we've on the look out for any

Hopefully next summer a repaint and work on the hydraulic system will get started and then the Avon's after that

Hopefully no one will mind me barging in on this thread, but both myself and Nigel feel that it desperately needs some pictures, so with that in mind I grabbed a few shots yesterday…

Have you asked Colin what happened to the 30 tons or so of Vixen spares that he had stored in his barn?

Failing that, could be worth asking Bruce Gordon from the De-Havilland Museum (can be found via Key Publishing Forum under username: Bruce), to see if he can find one, bit of a long shot though.

How bad is the fork?

The spares have now all gone to Bournemouth.

PK has already been great however the serch for a fork continues

he is helping us alot on other fronts thou

as soon as the shock absorber is off we have the spares to fix the seals, it's just finding the time to get it off fix it and put it back on having the nose on a jack for a lot of time might not be wise in the harse brunty enviroment

although i've been today and shes still high and dry

well just an update on progress,we finished the first rotax 103 yesterday, ran it on full load for 3/4 hr,basically till the two lorry batts running it went flat.it produced correct voltage and freq, one snag was that the main capacitor inside blew up half way through the test,so we built a new one using modern bits, that will last another 40 yrs hopefully.well it has now gone for painting in our sprayshop and will be ready for refitting soon.would post pictures but don't know how on this site, please advise.if anyone needs pictures of the inside of rotax inverters i have many of types 108,112,100b,103a,drop me a line anyway.post again soon, chris.
