Matt / Chris,

Iíve had a good look at the wiring diagrams for the Sea Vixen. Very different from the Buccaneer! crude in many respects but also functional and clever for its era! The electrical AP is a very useful guide, but is no substitute for a full set of theoretical diagrams if you ever come across any?

Iím looking forward to seeing some of the components up close at the weekend (weather permitting of course).

Are you still on for getting the engine out this coming weekend?

She put up a fight, but she came out eventually. Now to swop over some components and the engine bay and she'll be ready to drop in the new one.

We also decided to bench press a main generator, not for the faint hearted

All this without gammy handed steve
Back tomorrow to continue engine dressing and reconnecting the main generator wiring

UNfortunately no progress on the electrics guy thought it would rain, which it didn't so he couldn't make it

Oh well i'll have to dangle the "carrot" (starter motor) on the stick

Good job on the engine!

I canít believe it didnít rain over there today. It absolutely hammered it down here at home all day long.
It was the forecast 15+mph wind that put us off today as we were planning some blow duct works up on the tail of 894! Not an easy job on a still day let along a windy one! Oh well, better luck next weekend. Will you be going back down to Brunty next Saturday then?

The engine bay actually looks to be in good condition, which is not bad when you consider that she has spent the greater majority of her retirement outside.

Good job chaps and thanks for the photos Steve.

PS: Steve, why did you require the measurements of the centre section of a Meteor? You can PM me the answer.

Today we started changing over engine components that we didn't get round too so far and installed the first overhauled ignitor box into the bay

The bay itself needs a deep clean as there's a lot of leaf mulch in there

at cease play the air starter, starter cover, inlet guide tube and coupling were complete. Yesterday we also managed to dress the gearbox drive over to the correct side for a stbd engine after a few false starts whilst waiting for the engine lift

i'm knackered but glad we made progress on a few fronts we're still waiting for the wiggly amps to sort themselves

Matt,

I now have the means to copy from VHS to DVD!

I'm sure you know what that means, so expect some footage of 494 next time I see you wink
