Well nearly there for the engine fit items remaining before fit

Paint touch up
re install left hand ignitor HT cable
invest hook operating cables

Dave and myself got the hyd rig to produce pressure (we think) (might try it on a bucc first - guy's alarm bells ringing) hopefully next week it we get accumulator pressures in and holding we'll also try a wing fold for fun and to let my brother see the cable connections in the wing break , only problem being that we'll have to spread them again otherwise our engines will loose their little shelter, the top deck eleccy panels are back in (i think) and we'll try a trolley ack on it soon

hopefully a full turn out for the 21st this month, we've still got the observer hatch floor to re-paint

I wouldn't mind testing it on a working jet first, to check on flow rates and pressures first although we only have one system converted to the vixen/bucc type coupling i'm assuming the canberra is the same

as long as it's just Pressure and Return their isn't any case drain line on the Mk 8D

Turns out the rig needed to go on a differnet coupling, however the left wing started to fold bounced a bit and then drop whilst the res dumpeed again essentially this could be the 20psi res overpressure valve as the air in the system probably was compressing the system pressure over the normal 15psi operating pressure

anyway the engine is almost there just the gearbox coupling to go back on and the fwd firewall seal to sort and shes ready to dump in, also need to finish wrapping the new engine looms in 'greenline' and teflon tape

the main wheel jig provided to us from Andy Bonsall has come up trumps we've already re-built a replacement port main and split an old hub for spares, colin p got a shock when the old tyre came free from the hub with a loud 'pop' but we had a laugh

provisionally weather permitting we're going to try an engine put in on 28th/29th this month (TTimbo if you're around or anyone else) we've also confirmed we can get fire cover for the first 'wet' run away from the rest of the jets

Quick update from Matt.

The previously dormant Mk12 of DT's, now sports a rewired control panel and internals and just awaits some fuel, and then it's wake up bolton, you've got a mini jet engine in your back garden, we'll keep testing to a minimum there though.

OOH STAD! ANYONE A BIT OF AN EXPERT ON THESE STAD AIR STARTShuh i HAVE A PROBLEM WITH ONE. iT STARTS, LIGHTS, BUT NEVER WINDS UP TO 10,000RPM GROUND IDLE. IT SHUTS ITSELF OFF BEFORE IT REACHES STABLE IDLE. tHINKING ITS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE AIR PRESSURE SWITCHES BEING OUT OF ADJUSTEMENT, BUT DONT REALLY KNOW ENOUGH TO COMMENT. tHE MANUALS ARE SOME USE, BUT DONT REALLY TELL YOU THE PROCEDURE FOR CHECKING THE PRESSURE SWITCHES.

Problem being is that i'm away for a while after the end of this month so erm dunno might have to leave dave to re-connect thing up. The only thing i'm not too confident is without the brakes on (ie unknown serviceability) and just chocks fitted will ground idle cause the aircraft to move ?? obviously for any advancing of the throttle i'd expect to have working parking brake on, and anyway power settings on the vixen i'm led to beleive will drag the brakes anyway and possibly cause compresser stall as there is not enough airflow with no fwd speed
