hi just to say that if you need help with inverters timbo let me know what the canberra has in it as in rotax i08,103 etc and we can go from there.myself and steve have refurbed 5 inverters now to working order from totally rusted solid and 1 which had gone on fire so getting used to big jobs with them.main thing is is remember what wires go where and also oriantation is important,as if the brushes do not go back in the right order,as in you can adjust position when its screwed in.if you get it wrong it will glow red hot and smoke like hell, trust me on this.anyway drop me a line if you get stuck.

Thanks very much chris, I'm planning on having a look at them on my next visit to '126. Can't remember which model inverters the TT18 uses off the top of my head (T4 uses 2 100A's, a 108 and a single E221 static - might be same for TT18 - our PR9's had about 10 of the darn things!)), will find out when I see them though I guess!

A message from Matt.

"This is what i've spent my spare time in work making
not bad for a gash job with some off cuts there off to get some paint now prior to me spraying up the main panel they are fitted too."

"However i think the fumes that would create in the hanger would give the game away so i'll have to wait for a dry day outside."

Matt.

I got bored and ended up re-painting the previous engine door in the correct shade of extra dark sea grey (which isn't that dark in reality) and now with a grand total of 5 headsets donated from various sorces we're all set for proper ground runs, this weekends work will concentrate on soaking the trunnion and seeing is we've fixed the elecy problem
and doing it whilst being watched by those visiting the lightnings

The engine generator on the stbd side came out on saturday (i'll post a photo later) it's a big b**tard and could have taken our toes off we'll be definately putting it back in with a trolley jack

we didn't get time to put the control box back in but we'll try it in two weeks, with the spare invertor that dave webb kindly gave us we intend to build a test rig to check everything out un-installed before doing so on the jet

The painting bug has bitten me at the mo and hopefully if the weather hold we'll make a big dent into the repainting (any volunteers welcome as we intend to make a weekend of it in 2 weeks time

hi guys just thought i'd post to let you know that we hope as a team we can make a big push this year to at least make the old girl look nicer and hopefully get some of the systems going.at the moment when people see her because of the worn out state of the paint and some areas of damage corrosion it looks like nothing is going on.i would like to assure everyone that lots of work goes on behind the scenes and we hope to start seeing some results soon.the repaint will continue to try and get her looking nice for the open day at brunty.if we can lift the engine that will be a big step to us,as the electrics are moving forward although slowly.she now wears a set of refurbed nav lights in the wing tips with new wiring,we have refurbed cracker boxes to go in when the replacement engine goes back also.as i have come to learn when starting on this project information is the key having the right stuff and the knowlegde is key.so if anyone knows of more vixen ap's or manuals floating around please let us know,it all helps.
