Matt,

All I know is that the brake pack has been moved to a workshop ready to be stripped down and examined for clues as to what caused the failure.
It was unfortunate as those particular tyres were on their last ever run when the problem occurred. The wheels were due to be split, brakes checked/replaced and a new set of tyres fitted over the winter months. This will still need to be done of course but other minor damage to the braking system also needs to be repaired.
Although Anti-Det runs are continuing, XX900 will be remaining static for the time being.

XX900 has now been moved under cover for some much needed maintenance. The temporary building that she is currently in is due to be replaced by another similar one. Once this has been done, work will pick up pace as various panels, wheels and other components can be removed and repaired etc. away from the elements. Something we are not normally used to at Bruntingthorpe!!!

So far, the ladders, intake blanks and jet pipe covers etc. have been painted (in two pack) and they look superb! The airframe has been cleaned down and many of the moving parts have been lubricated.
There’s a leak from a fuel pipe in the forward accessories bay that need addressing and various small hydraulic leaks also.
The brake packs need to be overhauled with the pads most likely requiring replacement and the nose and main wheel tyres still need replacing!

I’ll take some pictures at the weekend!

Work continues on XX900. The main wheels are now off and the brake packs are currently being refurbished. Once done, new tyres will be fitted and she can then be wheeled back outside for engines runs.

Andrew,

Work is progressing with 900 but they guys had to have a tool manufactured for use on the wheels and unfortunately it is incorrect in some way and has since gone back off for rework.
The main general services hydraulic reservoir has also had to be removed as the main seals were found to be passing OM15 in to the nitrogen side. These seals are quite large and would perhaps be quite expensive to have made, but the chaps working on 900 have secured a second reservoir that will either be used or will at least yield some spare parts.

I took these photos back in late January this year:

Nice re-sprayed shiny wheels…

Everyone is still optimistic for 900’s return to the runway this year but progress is slow and the May 30th open day grows ever nearer!

No sadly not. 900 hasn't started her engines for 15 months now. She is in desperate need of an anti-det run but her need for maintenance over this time was far greater.
