I chatted with the guys today to see if there was any recent progress with XX900 and there is!!

One of the main wheels complete with refurbished brake pack has now been refitted to the aircraft…

The other wheel is progressing also so I guess it wont be long before she’s back off of the jacks which is just as well really because she will apparently move in to the main hangar shortly to complete the rest of her overhaul.

The general service reservoir has also been repaired and was on pressure test although sadly I didn’t get any photos.

Perhaps the May open day will be achievable yet??

XX900’s faulty General Service Reservoir has now been removed. The replacement one is currently having new seals fitted and will hopefully be back in the aircraft soon…

Whilst the hydraulic system has been broken in to, a replacement coupling will be fitted as the existing one just doesn’t seal at all…

Slip markers have now been added to the wheel/tires…

XX900’s long term restoration is now making very rapid progress.
900 has now come out of the hangar to start the testing phase. The hydraulics have been tested and the wheel brakes will be bled and tested next week.

The fuel leak is still to be fixed and this is next on the list.

900 in the rub…

The wheel brakes were bled and tested prior to the open day but unfortunately the starboard wheel has suffered from exactly the same leaking piston seal issue as XX894 did recently so off again comes the wheel for repair…rolleyes

just to let you all know 900 is now very close to running again!! fuel seal changed, leaking brake piston changed. A new hydraulic test rig is being serviced by ex Raf fairey Graham and his friend Miles from Rolls Royce. Runs like new. So the plan is in the next 2 weeks test hydraulics again, fuel her up fingers crossed no leaks, Dry cycle the engines test a generator. And if all goes to plan a run and who knows if the runway is free a taxy? and YES two Buccs doing a pairs run for August, all the blood sweet tears and yes plenty of swearing will all be worth it. hi yes sure do remember yea, hope you had a good day yes its true you will be seeing 2 Buccs going down the runway and a third doing a static run how about that? The rig that Graham has got running has been stored on site and robbed but has a good engine,so we are robbing the one you saw which as you saw was not in the best of conditions. you are always welcome on 900 if you are ever in the area take care stay in touch Matt
