Welcome to the Buccaneer Society, Hugh, I see that you guys are making good progress at Inverness.

One question for you, has anyone been able to get the retractable in-flight refuelling probe to pop out yet?

I look forwards to see some more of your images and info in the future.

Hi Nigel and thankyou for the welcome,we can actually pull the inflight refuelling probe out but it is a mother and a father to get pushed back in therefore it stays put at the mo,plans are afoot to possibly set up a hydraulic pump"hidden somewhere in the nose section or wheel bay" to extend and retract it that is still under discussion as we dont want to create any holes we would rather try and use existing pipe lines, another winter time job on the to do list laugh laugh.
I will keep the forum updated as to the progress.

Hugh,

I have just observed the images that Francis has taken of both 532 & 867 and can't help but notice that the aircraft are sporting the wrong stick tops, it seems that the S.1 has the S.2 sticktop and the S.2 has the S.1 sticktop.

Sorry for my attention to detail eye wink

Sorry chaps but the two Buccs remained closed up tight yesterday and today due to the appaulling weather,i will post updates soon as.
Regarding the stick issue as far as i am aware that is how they arrived at the museum and permission needs to be sought from the respective owners before a swap over is possible, strange set up i know but at the moment thats how it is.

Regards

Hi Hugh,

Thatís a very interesting shot with the nose open. It would seem that the Mk1 is very different to the Mk2 in that area!
Great photos by the way!

What a fantastic looking Buccaneer! Is she live as far as electrics go or completely static? Looks like you could hop in and fire her up! laugh

Sorry for the very late reply buccaneer01, I believe while she was hangered a few years ago she had her engines turned over and the electrics were powered up however she has been outside for a number of years now and is totally static also the hydraulic system has been butchered over the years for spares while she was gate guard at Lossiemouth.
Many thanks for your interest in her.

Would she be worked on and made electrically live once again or is there no chance?
