Hi all ,today the sun shone and we had the manpower !!! Off came XV867's canopy so we could fit the new rails so generously supplied by Francis.
Some pic's of the proceedings.

Canopy off......for the first time in years!!!!

Once the canopy was off we had to free up the canopy ejection gear and trial fit the rails.....

On closer inspection of the canopy roller bearings we discovered that they were in a very bad state...no problem..we will make new ones simple!!

We could only rustle up a dozen or so new roller bearings ...so in order to refit the canopy till the next work day we fitted what we could new and used the best of the rest

We can now open and close XV867's canopy without breaking our backs!! more new roller bearings will be manufactured during the next week or so and will be fitted in due course.
Once again many thanks must go to all who made this possible.

Hugh...XV867

Mmmm, canopies, great fun when they are seized...........NOT, great job Hugh, could do with getting some new ones made for 889 at some stage.

PS: moved this thread into the stickies for safe keeping.

That brings back a few memories, (from a long time ago) setting all those rollers to jig, and seagull infested canopy repairs!.

Wow! Thatís great news Hugh.
Iím glad that the rails went on without to much of a struggle. I know from experience how Buccaneers were hand built and bits from one jet just dot seem to fit any other!

Keep up the good work.
